Ted McGrath mini course review

This review of Ted’s products is really about delving in and seeing what it actually entails from a marketing perspective and if is is a scam or value. In essence this is one of those courses that shows you how to sell a course. Now Ted McGrath is pretty active on social media and in the realm of internet marketing circles. His personal brands sell him as an author, public speaker and coach, well who isn’t these days.

To many, his ads are yet another course that taps into how you could improve or start your business with just one concept. In this case, we talk about mini courses. So I decided to find out more about this course and let you know if it is worth looking at further.

To start with, there is not much info in terms of what you are getting with the course. Some notes or a list of modules would have been handy, though I guess part of his marketing is that if it is free, then just sign up and find out – it’s free!

You are now a member

As an affiliate marketer, you will know that contact details such as name and email are a commodity. To no change there, you do have to become a member first, simply enter your name and email, then you get confirmation.

We all know that video is a huge converter, impressive in every way. Ted uses this for each of the modules. The production value as below, is a little basic. Walking around in a garden is likely not the best setting, however it is likely that he chose this approach to be more ‘intimate’ and project an honest view. Whatever his branding goes by, it fits with a free course, maybe not a paid one at $47 which is the list price.

The content

Overall the content is designed I would say for more of a beginner or somebody who wants to take their product to another level higher than they are. Informative yes, and he breaks down features such as email funnels and how you can use them. Ted makes new product each week, yes each week, so has no end of information to produce for you.

As Ted states: ‘walking around with an iphone in your hand, you can create a new product’. That opens a door onto how he makes content like this, delivers it and analyses it further. Using a vehicle such as video within the course modules is an easy way for Ted to make content.

Ted mentions about a cycle of creating content, pushing it out and marketing it, then going back and making more products. By products it is literally using an iphone.

There is a download file option, once clicked and downloaded it is not actually anything related to the course, merely a sales document, that was dissapointing.

Conclusion

Is the course legit? Yes, for a free course it is helpful and gives some insight from someone who clearly has made success from this.

Is it worth the $47 price tag? Subjective, but ultimately if you are very new to it, then you will find value, however is $47 worth something that might be summed up in a blog?

The videos are not edited, they are a little rushed in places. Ted has a narrative for sure, and breaks it down, but it lacks some creativity and a personal touch.

Overall the content was informative, but could have been broken down into course notes, additional questions, scenarios and some highlighted points that form an action plan. The ideas are valid, they do give you some perspective. From a marketer myself, there were a few things that I wrote down to look at, but mostly it was information that I knew already, just needed to join the dots.

The approach for this is get them out fast. You can clearly re-market things, and Ted’s way of doing this clearly works. You simply re-market it and create products in a cycle. So it is worth a try if you have the time and patience to follow in his footsteps!

Keyword research for free – quick guide [2022]

Let’s start with where your keywords need to be. You can use this to see how your page compares. In this guide we are researching outdoor pizza ovens. So we need to find out what customers are searching for. There are a few ways you can do this for free. Google is a good place to start. As any customer would do, they normally search for a short search term like this. That usually means that they don’t really know what they want, brands, types or prices.

Google can give us some clues based on what popular searches are for this product. For example, if we go further down the page we can see some results that indicate what visitors are looking for.

What this is telling us is that customers often try searching again for more specific results such as ‘stone pizza oven’ ‘aldi pizza oven’ wood fired pizza ovens’ and ‘best outdoor pizza oven’. Does your content have these alternate keywords included?

Include these keywords in a smart way. Don’t just put them into the content where they are forced, this is called keyword stuffing – Google has been wise to this for many years. Instead, find out which of these is more important for your content. You might not stock all these items, so it is worth filtering out the ones that are relevant to you, relevance plays a big part of SEO. There are many plugins that can help you with this, so worth a try.

Use them as headings or key part of your content

The keyword ‘best outdoor pizza oven’ would make a perfect blog article. You can structure a blog article on 5,8 or 10 of the best outdoor pizzas. Have a link in your product page to this blog, it is relevant. You can also compare this product to other products that you have. This makes for a great piece of reading for the customer. There might be features that your customer is looking, is your competitor doing this?

Back to the search for the keywords, if you click the search bar in google, you can also find similar search questions plus a few more (below). This is all based entirely on customer searches and is updated automatically. This is a good building block to see just how far you can drill down to capitalize on your keywords.
